Chipping, wearing, staining and decay can all work to give you a sub-standard smile. If you want your appearance back, Dr. Manami Yamaguchi can help.
What Are Dental Crowns?
Dental crowns are simply a restorative treatment that can give back appearance and functionality to your mouth. There may be any number of reasons why you have damaged teeth – perhaps you have had a blow to your mouth, or maybe you have seen deterioration in your mouth due to age.
Either way, dental crowns can make you look better, and also let you keep your teeth longer because they protect your teeth from further damage. Dr. Yamaguchi has seen many elderly patients whose teeth have become worn and have deteriorated over the years, and she has been able to help them.
If you want your teeth back, dental crowns are a good option.
You might be surprised at how easy it is to have dental crowns installed. It usually only takes a couple of visits. On your first visit, Dr. Yamaguchi will look at your teeth, and determine if crowns are right for you. Usually they are. Then, on your next visit, she will give you a local anesthetic so that you will feel no pain while she does what she needs to do in your mouth. You can be assured during this procedure that you will feel no pain; Dr. Yamaguchi is a female dentist with small hands, so she will not invade your mouth any more than is necessary. You will feel no discomfort while she examines your mouth and takes impressions of your teeth.
Once she has the impressions, Dr. Yamaguchi will send them to a lab. Master ceramists will make your crowns, and send them back to Dr. Yamaguchi. Once she receives them, she will call you back for another appointment. She will ask you to look at your crowns, and make sure that they are the right shape and color. Then, once you are both satisfied, she will cement them in place.
Dental crowns can be created and installed quickly, so, in just a couple of visits, you’ll have your bite and appearance back.
Caring for Your Crowns
Crowns require no more care than your own teeth. Just brush and floss, and have regular checkups. Remember that your crowns will not decay, but the underlying tooth structure is still vulnerable to gum disease, and that could cause your crowns to go bad. Also, don’t bite down hard or grind your teeth. If you look after your crowns, chances are that they could even outlive you, but only if you take proper care of them.
