What is Dental Bonding?
Dental bonding is a procedure that corrects minor flaws at the front of your smile. Composite resin is carefully used to cover chips, discoloration, cracks and gaps so that your smile looks more even and radiant. Bonding can last for upwards of 10 years, so it’s a durable and relatively long-lasting cosmetic option. Our goal is to provide you with a gorgeous smile that you can feel confident in showing off.
Why is Dental Bonding needed?
Dental bonding has cosmetic benefits to your smile. If you are unhappy with the way that your teeth look, bonding is a fast, easy and noninvasive way to completely correct minor flaws and imperfections. Some of the different problems that bonding can address include:
- Gaps and spaces between teeth
- Discoloration and staining
- Chipped and cracked teeth
- Uneven teeth
What makes you a good candidate for Dental Bonding?
Bonding is noninvasive, so it’s ideal for most patients who are looking for a long-term solution to their cosmetic woes. To determine if bonding is right for you, you’ll need to come in for an exam and consultation. We will be able to decipher if bonding is able to correct what you don’t like about your smile.
What happens during the Dental Bonding procedure?
You will first come into our office and have the front teeth buffed and prepped for the bonding agent. In some cases, local anesthetic may be needed to numb the area and make the procedure more comfortable for you. Composite resin is carefully matched with your existing dentition so that the bonding blends flawlessly. Dr. Yamaguchi will then smooth the material over the teeth and detail it into place. A curing light is then used to harden the composite resin and keep it firmly in place. Your bonding is completely in place once it has fully hardened and cured, and you can expect it to last for many years with proper care.
