Regular twice-yearly appointments can help to keep your mouth healthy. Small problems, like cavities, can be found early on so that treatment is easier and less invasive. Cleanings help to keep calculus (hardened plaque) and tartar off of teeth and away from vulnerable gums. We will measure your gums at each of your preventative care appointments to check for any signs of gum disease and inflammation.

Every member of your family should be having routine exams and cleanings. In fact, it’s recommended that children as young as one or two come in to see a dentist to check their teeth and gums. With routine preventative care appointments, we are able to keep your mouth as healthy as possible and provide you with the treatment that is needed. We offer this care in a warm, welcoming and highly personable office that you can feel comfortable coming to time and time again.

You will come in and have dental x-rays taken to help us identify problems that may go unnoticed during a routine exam. The hygienist then cleans your teeth using a variety of instruments that work to remove hardened plaque and calculus. The teeth are then flossed and polished. Once that has been done, the hygienist measures your gums to check for inflammation and gum disease. Next, Dr. Yamaguchi will perform the exam and look for cavities, problems with restorations and even oral cancer. You should come in for one of these checkup appointments every six months.
